Mid distance track times + academics for ivies ?

I'm a male foreigner currently in my junior year (born 1993) with times of 1:54 over 800m and 3:58 over 1500m. I have won national age group championships on several occasions and also run XC. Combined with a 2110 on the SAT, does this put me in good stead for recruiting/help through the admissions process at Ivy League schools? (In particular Yale, Princeton, Brown and Columbia, also interested in Stanford).

I've heard rumors about making a 'list' submitted by coaches to the admissions department but for all I know this could be completely wrong!

Any advice from those with experience in track would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Hey - if you look at the Ivy League championships (aka Heptagonals) you’ll see 800m times for the point scorers range from 1:48.6 to 1:52.3. In the 1500 it looks like 3:49 to 3:52.

So, yeah, it looks like you might be in the ballpark - I think your 2110 makes you recruitable. Why not fire off a few introductory emails to coaches and see what they think?

Yes, You are definitely in the Ivy range. Contact the coaches, At around the time of ED, Make sure you tell your number one choice coach that its your number one and that you would definitely attend if you got it. Another good idea is to have your highschool coach call the college coach.

If you were wondering, I got recruited (Regular decision) by Dartmouth for a 1:55.xx 800m and a 35 on the ACT.

Read all about likely letters on this forum to understand ivy recruiting. Since you don’t compete at US national meets or state championships, you aren’t on The coach’s mailing list to receive recruiting info. Go to each school’s website and fill out the recruiting form. Your times and scores look good.
