Mid-Year grades

If you get 2 B’s and a C first semester of senior year, will that basically disqualify you? I have a legacy, probably around a 3.8 or 3.7 until now, average SATs for Brown and lots of attractive awards, etc.

It will definitely help if there's some reason why your grades dropped that either you or your counselor can explain in the app -- e.g. you missed the first two months of school because you were home with chicken pox or something :)

Yeah, unless there's a really good reason, it'll probably hurt your application a lot.

And if they're really good, can they really help a slightly below average candidate?

Well colleges do like to see a trend of improvement..but I guess it depends how below average the candidate is...

I was accepted ED and was wondering how poor my grades can be for my mid year report without Brown getting mad. (I got straight As first quarter and in Brown's acceptance letter it says I have to maintain a similar academic record to the one on which they based their decision). Ib guess the question is: Just how similar?
