mid year report: Wellesley ED2.

I’m a 17 year old girl who goes to a public school in New Jersey. My GPA weighted is a 4.64 and unweighted a 4.0. I got a 2200 superscore on the old SAT (750 math, 710 reading, 740 grammar) and 760 on english SAT 2 and 780 on math 2 SAT 2. I did not study for either of these SAT 2’s so my scores do not necessarily reflect my normal grades. I’ve taken 4 AP’s so far (AP Statistics sophomore year, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics C, and AP English Language and Composition) and got a 4,5,3,and 5 (in that order). This year, for my senior year, I am taking AP biology, AP Literature, AP Calculus BC and AP French. Also, I’m in involved in a lot of extracurriculars/hold many leadership roles.

My concern now is my mid year grades. First marking period I got all A’s and a B+ in AP bio. But right now, for second marking period, it’s looking like I might end with a C+ for AP calc bc. My teacher is notorious for being very difficult and it’s so hard to do well in her class. My mid year grades are not averaged, so colleges will see A- and C+. All of my other classes will be A’s except bio which will be B+ and B.

How greatly will this effect me if I’m applying Wellesley ED2? I had a great interview & think I wrote a very strong essay. I am just concerned because I’ve never gotten less than an A in anything before this year and now a C is freaking me out.

oops i did not mean the part about not studying for the sat 2’s. those are my best scores retaken

I live in NJ too and I’m also a senior, do you have time to bump your C+ to a B-? If not, I wouldnt freak too too much, after all, its ONE grade. I don’t think they will reject you just because of that class. I was in a similar situation as you last MP (I got a C+ in AP Psych), is sending your mid-year report an option? Maybe you can opt out of sending it to Wellesley?

I’m pretty sure you’re fine. With your scores and GPA and courseload, one C+ in AP Calculus, the hardest class most schools offer, isn’t going to tank your application. Unless you wanted to be a Math major or something, where it might cause some concern. Otherwise, you have a very good shot at admission.
