Prior to senior year, I was an A+ student and 3rd in my class (which isn’t really that impressive because there are only 57 in my class), but this year I got really lazy and have a 76 in AP Bio, 86 in American Federal Government (Dual Enrollment), 88 in AP Lit, 91 in AP Physics, 94 in AP Calc, 89 in Environmental Science Honors, and 95 in Number Theory Honors, and my class rank fell to 5. I have a 35 ACT and 800 Physics and 770 Math 2 subject tests, but seeing as I applied to places like Princeton, Duke, Cornell, and Caltech, I think this pretty much screws me. Does anyone have any advice?
Were those your first semester averages? If so, yikes. Most aren’t bad, but the C in Bio is concerning. It wouldn’t be impossible for you to get in, but let’s say that this doesn’t reflect well in admissions if you had all As before senior year. At least you’re honest with admitting you got lazy.
You just gotta sit and wait, I guess. And stop being so lazy haha.
Nothing you can do now. But I suggest you buckle down a bit more – even if your grades are not terribly important, learning the material is.
I have a good understanding of the material; my bad grades are from not doing homework, handing assignments in late, etc. Yes, those were my first semester averages
