How much could an absolutely amazing mid-year report boost one's admission chances to top schools like columbia and dartmouth? My overall GPA is a 4.4 right now, and with midyear (4.8+) it should be around 4.5...

do colleges value 1st semester sr. year MOST (as they should [at least I think so; it is the most recent])? If not, where does the mid-year report fit in with admissions decisions?

yea i mean only the college you're attending will even see your second semester grades, and they wont care about them unless you fail or severely slack off (like multiple Cs probably). as far as its rank on how important it is, it is not as important as junior or probably even sophomore grades, but higher than freshman grades. if you're a borderline student your grades will definitely help you (i'm assuming you are continuing to take a challenging course load), but if you didnt have a chance before midyears, they wont get you in. i suppose they can keep you out, but i would say they are one of the less important parts of the app, although i'm only one opinion.
