I just received my semester grades for this year, and they are not looking too good. I got a C in physics and AP econ. However all of my other grades are As and Bs. How much is this going to cost me on my college admissions? I have applied to some competitive liberal arts colleges(Whitman, smith), UCs, and public and private universities (george mason, american).

From what I've read so far on other posts is that people tend to think senior grades might not matter as much if they've had strong grades their past 4 years. However, this is not the case for me. I was trying to expand on the fact in my applications and interviews that I was going on a upwards trend (freshman year: 2.9, sophomore year: 2.6, junior year: 3.5). But I think with this 3.2 GPA first semester this could seriously ruin my chances of getting in anywhere.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm really at a loss right now and I feel horrible for making my parents pay for all this money for the whole admission process, when I was the one who screwed up everything.
