The mid year report came out today, and I have some new science awards and such to report (woo hoo!) but I have an even more important question to ask: should I submit the opening line of The Bee Movie as my inspirational quote?
For those not as familiar with The Bee Movie as I am, the opening line is “According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyways. Because bees don’t care what humans think is impossible.”
In the past, I have contemplated using this line as my “favorite quote” on other college applications, however, I always chickened out at the last second. This may be my final chance to send the opening line of The Bee Movie to an institute of higher learning.
@LookAtThisNet The Bee Movie inspires me to bee my very best and work(er bee) hard at everything I do. It has taught me to work for the good of the hive, but to never let some pesky humans take advantage of me and steal my honey. Finally, it has taught me that true love has no bounds, bee it between man and woman, man and man, woman and woman, or woman and bee. I will always think bee!
oh god i am so sorry for making you read that with your own two eyes
For an MIT essay, I would probably want to demonstrate that I know that a)!the story is much older than that movie, and b) it’s apocryphal. I would also bee - er, be - careful not to send the wrong message to a school full of scientists. But if you can make it work, go for it!
