how important are mid-year reports when you apply RD to schools? does it factor into the process or is it just a way for colleges to make sure you're still 'applying' yourself in school senior year?

For colleges that require them, they are used as they use other grades to determine admission. Some admission officers have said before that high first semester senior year grades are not likely to do much to make up for previous low grades, but low grades in a mid-year report can result in a candidate who was on track to be admitted to end being rejected.

What are “low” grades? I might get one or two more Bs than I usually get (I usually get no or just one B per semester)
