mid years

Just got an email today (applied RD) I should email unc my midyears. Anyone else get this email?

nope....................

yeah i got mail....but it said enter mid-year grades at admissions website.......

"Greetings from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We
invite you to submit your midyear grades to us online by logging into
your UNC homepage at www.admissions.unc.edu with your confidential
username and password. Please do not ask your guidance counselor to submit
your midyears on your behalf. Instead, we request that you submit your
own grades and make sure that the grades you report are both accurate
and complete."

Does this indicate anything of our chances???

Anyone that is deferred EA or applying RD will need to submit their midyear grades. Most schools want to see if you are keeping your grades up senior year or if you are doing better senior year. Usually your 9-11 grade scores just are not enough for them to look at.

anyone noticed.....UNC site loads up very slowly these days....

I got it but since I already graduated from HS they kind of screwed up the courses I took .. combined semesters, etc. I had to email them asking them what was up.

I got it, too. Are you sure it's for all RDers? The application talks about midyears and said "at our discretion" which seems to indicate it's not an "always" thing.

Rosetta, you are correct. UNC does not request mid-year reports from everyone.

if anything (and I mean no offense by this) it most likely means that you are border line.....they dont need midyear grades for the shooins or the unfortunate

just my 2 cents tho.

I agree, humbucker. I wonder how much of an ultimate difference they'll make, though? Mine are pretty much on par with my previous grades in my transcript so I have no idea if they'll help. I guess I'll see come april.

i dont think midyears are for border line kids. i know 2 other girls in my high school who applied to unc and they both got the midyear request. One of them basically has no shot (3.6, 1200s) and the other is 4th in our class with a 1590 (got deferred from yale). Me on the other hand, am smack in the middle (3.88, 1300s, 700s SAT 2's)

can't be borderline for me because I already finished HS - they have all my grades. a bit stupid if you ask me.
