Hi Everyone!

I had a few questions about the middle class scholarship. I am planning to call the UCR financial aid office to ask them about it but was wondering if anyone has received it.

I personally received the Cal Grant, and a UCR grant to cover some of the fees the Cal Grant did not cover. I am wondering if the middle class scholarship would still be awarded to me. I have an EFC of about 5,000, with family income of 90,000 combined. This is the last year I will be a “dependent” on the FAFSA.

I’ll post the answer UCR gives me but I’m curious to see other people’s experiences as well!

UPDATE: So I just called UCR and the woman I spoke to told me the middle class scholarship is NOT part of the blue and gold promise. So if you receive a Cal Grant, and you received a UCR Grant, the UCR Grant is the “Blue and Gold Promise” which promises to help pay the fees the Cal Grant does not cover.

The Middle Class Scholarship would be supplemental aid if you qualify for it. She wouldn’t disclose whether I would or would not receive anything she just said to wait and see.
