I took a tour or MC 3 weeks ago and one of ME today and I have to say I liked MC waaaay better. It just seemed nicer in general. People say ME is closer to classes, but the truth is that classes are spread out around campus so it doesn’t really matter.

Can anyone answer my questions about triples on the previous page? Just posting this since you can’t see it anymore…

Pansies, odds are pretty good if you want to triple, especially if you have 2 other people set.

That said, I don’t know how the triples worked for Mesa, but my triple room was pretty cramped. They basically took a double room, and made it into a triple. However, I do believe the Phase III ME triple rooms are bigger, but not entirely sure.

How do you get a Phase III? Luck? Are certain themes different phases?

I’m wondering what hall you were in? Isla and Jardin seem to have bigger triples at approx. 240 sq ft while the other 4 halls’ triples are approx 200 sq ft. I do think Mesa’s triples are bigger than ME’s, but what do I know? ME’s triples are 12’ x 15’-17’ while Mesa’s bigger ones are approx. 15’ x 16. I just researched this, lol.

you can see all of that type of info here: [UC Irvine Student Housing - Middle Earth - Hall History](http://www.housing.uci.edu/me/hall_desc.asp#Def)

yes anyone can eat there!

No the ME gym is only for residents. (but they only check sometimes so you probably could use it…)

There are 4 phase III’s, two with specialty themes. One is Study Abroad and the other is the all women’s hall. The other 2 have the general cluster themes of Participating in Campus and Civiv Life and Intellectual Competency. And if you have a triple next year chances are higher to get one of those (this is just a rumor). I lived in one my first year in a triple and I loved it. It is nice because even though it is bigger it has more privacy the way it is built, but it takes a little more effort to mingle where as the other phases you kind of HAVE to run into people ALL the time.

TRUST me there are plenty of “partiers”… ME just tends to be more discrete about it…

I’m reading the descriptions for Mesa Court and Middle Earth on the UCI website, and the words “hall”, “suite”, and “room” are confusing me.

What do the hall, suite, and room look like?

The suite is in the hall and a room is in a suite right?

Do we live in the suite or live in a room?

Is the hall the whole building or part of a building?

What is the difference between a co-ed suite and a co-ed hall?

Mesa triples are considerably bigger than triples at ME. that said, if I could go back and choose a different dorm, I probably would have chosen to live at ME instead. I lived in Jardin, which is a phase 3 in mesa, this year and it was a great experience, but a nasty walk all around campus. Takes about 20-25 minutes to get to Pippen (dining hall) took me on average 20-25 minutes to walk to a majority of my math classes located in RH and MSTB. it’s just such a hassle especially if you have a morning class cause you gotta wake up at least 30 minutes early to walk to class. if you guys have any other questions i’d be willing to help you guys out.

Can anybody answer my question two posts above?

SUITE is like a hallway, so approx 7-8 rooms in a suite. You live in a room. A HALL is the whole building.

Oh ok thank you.

For students in CHP, is the social life much different in Middle Earth than Mesa Court? CHP students have their own halls in both ME and MC. I like ME for its proximity to ARC and science classes, but I also like MC for its social life.
