I know there was a thread about this but that was from around 2010. I know it’s only five years but i want to get some responses of the most recent students.
From what i gathered, Middle Earth is closer to buildings (i’m majoring in engineering) and has better food. Their rooms are also a bit smaller.
Mesa has a more spacious outside with trees and stuff and a slightly larger room.
I’m leaning towards Middle Earth right now but does anyone have any recent news on differences between the two and pros and cons?
Here is my post about it in another thread:
"I personally chose Middle Earth, but I’ll try to keep it unbiased as possible.
Mesa is more aesthetically pleasing as the buildings are for the most part newer. People say Mesa has bigger rooms but from the rooms I’ve seen, they are pretty much identical. It feels like ME has more of a community feel to it because the buildings seem to be smaller (though I could be wrong on that) and the recreation area (basketball courts, game room, and one of the dining facilities) are on the way to class so everyone passes by them (At Mesa some of these things are off to the side). Middle Earth hands down has better food. Brandywine is the place to go for a good lunch because of their grill specials that change everyday. Pippin can be good for dinner but I mostly eat out. Middle Earth is smack dab on campus so it’s closer to most classes (literally a 3 minute walk to the social sciences/engineering/comp sci/business areas which is SUPER CONVENIENT), while Mesa is separated from campus by a small street and some stairs but it a bit closer to the humanites area. Mesa is also closer to UTC (shopping center) that has In n Out, Chipotle, Taco Bell, etc, and a ton of small stores. The walk to UTC from Middle Earth isn’t bad though, takes about 5-10 minutes."
I see. Thanks for the response. I think i’m going to choose Middle Earth. I don’t think aesthetically better buildings are worth it for all the other pros Middle Earth offers.
Thanks for the unbiased information! (not sarcasm because it’s sometimes hard to differentiate over text)
Oh wait, i have another question. So each one has its own community centers and rooms. Like online, i read that Mesa Court has study workshops and, peer tutors, free DVD rentals, individual study cubicles, and other stuff. If i were to live in Middle Earth, would i also have access to those features of Mesa Court?
Call me a prude, but I’m honestly worried about the bathroom situation //shot I heard some Middle Earth dorms have private bathrooms and some have the giant ones with stalls. Does anyone know if Mesa is the same way? I’m planning on Valimar (Study Abroad, Phase III), and I kind of want to know what I’m getting myself into //shot
I would also like to know about the bathroom situation at ME and MC. Which one has better bathrooms? And how many people share one bathroom?
