What's the deal with MTSU: Largest undergrad population in TN, seems to have a few very good programs - Aerospace, Teacher Education, Commercial Music. What's the real scoop on this school?

MTSU is a good state school that is well-known for its education, communications, and music business majors. It has the largest undergrad population in TN probably b/c University of Tennessee-Knoxville has become much more selective over the years in who they admit. I read somewhere that UTK incoming class had average test scores very similar to those going to Vanderbilt. Kids who don't fulfill the criteria for UTK are looking for other TN schools (ETSU, MTSU, Austin Peay, etc.)

I've never visited there, but from what I've heard its a big commuter school and not many kids stay on campus on the weekends. I would say if someone is looking for the traditional, college experience than try for UT. I have a friend who's a poly sci major who transferred from MTSU to UTK for just this reason.

and i checked out your other threads....if there's an interest in music i highly suggest looking into University of Memphis

thanks -- my s is smart and talented, but didn't apply himself to his academics until too late. I like the BMus in recording technology/ music buinsess at Memphis. What are the score/GPA requirements?

Have you checked out Belmont University in Nashville? They have superb fine arts programs and a really great music program as well as a a major in music business. If you are a resident of TN, don't forget about the Tennessee Lottery Hope scholarship
