middlebury alternatives

I was wondering if there were any other liberal arts schools with the same feel and similar global focus on languages and international relations that would be a bit easier to get into than Middlebury?

Georgetown and Tufts have similar academic strengths in languages and global affairs, like Midd, but they are not easier to get into...

I wish there were some easier alternatives to Midd...

Look at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania.

Colgate, Hamilton, Colby, Bucknell, Franklin & Marshall.

Hamilton and Colgate, definitely.

DEFINITELY connecticut college

Washington and Lee

bowdoin colgate colby

Bowdoin is not easier to get into than Middlebury - they're very closely matched in terms of selectivity . .

Macalester.

The college boasts one of the largest percentages of foreign students in the country (15% vs. a more typical 5-6%) and a campus that strongly promotes its international focus. Admissions are a bit less competitive. Urban-suburban St. Paul is certainly not rural Vermont, however.

agreed, bowdoin and middlebury are very similar in terms of selectivity. But if you think you might have a shot at a school like middlebury or would like to attend a similar school, bowdoin would be a great one to consider.

Lewis and Clark also has a somewhat similar strength in global affairs, but it is nowhere near the prestige Middlebury embraces.

wesleyan, tufts.

Colby has 12% international students and 70% of the students study abroad. It has a very strong international studies program. Colby was one of the original schools to take United World Scholars students, along with Middlebury, Princeton and Wellesley. It is easier to get into than Middlebury.

colby, connecticut college

Silly question, but is there still enough snow in Vermont to do a lot of skiing most winters? It seems like theres always articles about the struggles of the ski areas to stay open. One reason to be at Middlebury would be for the skiing, but what are the winters like if it's just cold with no snow? Do you feel really shut in?

Don't you worry. There's plenty of snow during the winter. And when there isn't, the Ski Bowl has snow making equipment.
