I got rejected from Midd, but I was thinking about doing one of their summer language programs next year (not this summer). Are there any numbers on how hard it is to get into these programs?

Also, how does FA work with summer programs? The stats on Middlebury's FA are very good for the normal school year, but I have no idea what to expect from the summer programs. Is the FA as good for these programs?

I am not aware of any statistics re: the competitiveness of Midd’s summer language programs.

My daughter (Midd. student) will be attending a 7-week program this summer. She also applied for and received a full-tuition scholarship for the program. I’m not sure how many different scholarships/foundations are out there for Midd’s summer language programs, but if it’s what you want to do, apply and see what happens.

Good luck!

I attended the language schools for one summer as an undergrad and then two summers and a year abroad as a graduate student. I’m pretty sure all of the schools have rolling admissions so I’d encourage you to apply as early as possible. I think I applied in December each time. The website has information on when schools start to fill up. I don’t have any admissions statistics but I think most people who apply are accepted.

Financial aid, in my experience, is fairly generous in the summer, depending on your (or your parents’) income. I received a small grant and some loans when I was an undergrad. As an graduate, since I was earning very little and was no longer a dependent, they actually covered all of my tuition and even paid me a small stipend for travel and books.
