i have no knowledge, really, of the language departments at my school (bowdoin), but i wanted to clear up some confusion about language dorms and tables:

first, bowdoin most certainly does have language tables, and from what i hear they're quite active and people really enjoy them.

as to language dorms, however, bowdoin has a policy against all theme housing (co-op, language, wellness, etc.) - they have chem-free housing, and different types of housing ("social houses," apartments, plain old dorms, etc.), but there are no theme houses of any sort. this is something that doesn't seem like it will be changing any time soon - students on campus tried to convince the administration to allow them a co-op for this coming year, and the administration wound up vetoing it.

good luck in your college search - both bowdoin and midd are excellent schools, and i'm sure you'd find many reasons to be happy at either of them.
