Middlebury vs. Harvard (WL)

Please help me!! Haha. My two top choices during this whole process had been Midd and Harvard (yes, I realize they are vastly different - I love both of them for different reasons). I've been accepted at Midd and waitlisted at Harvard. Now, I realize the chances that I get off the waitlist are slim, but it's a definite possibility as I have people pulling for me over there.

So obviously right now I'm focusing on Midd, but in case I do get off the H waitlist, I need to be able to make a very hard decision.... any input would be very much appreciated!

Primarily, is either school better for med school admissions? I want to be pre-med, but also probably major in English or Classics, but also take some psych courses and some languages... I think both schools are great in all of these departments but any concrete info/opinions on that would be much appreciated.

Beyond that, I really need to figure out where I'd be happiest spending the next four years of my life, and unfortunately, with the whole waitlist thing I can't actually go to any admitted students days or really get a feel for life at Harvard... any input comparing the two schools? Please? Thank you!

Going to Harvard for premed is like going to Las Vegas for the food. Pack your skis for Midd and don’t look back.

LOL, Brilliant JohnWesley! One of your best!

^^^^^
My S thought he wanted to go to H-never got off the waitlist-but now he feels it was the best thing for him-school is smaller, more opportunities for him. he is a campus leader and has won awards-not sure that would have happened at H-he’s still looking at it for grad school, but all in all, glad he ended up where he is.

Haha err but I also want to study English, Classics, Psych, languages, etc… ummm thanks? hahaha

And thank you OldbatesieDoc, that is very helpful : )

Alex, pm me if you want more specific info. It’s great to have good options, congats!

Finally something I know about – food. In the past decade or two Las Vegas has become one of the top restaurant cities in the country. Virtually every top chef has opened one or more restaurants there, and the city appears on many “best restaurants” surveys. Just sayin’.

Carry on.

Midd for the education, then Harvard for med school. You won’t regret it!
