So, I just finished getting my midterm grade reports signed. I have all A's except in chemistry. We had 1 exam and I got an 85%. My professor told me it was one of the highest scores in the class and thus essentially an A because he determines your letter grade based on how you compare to the rest of the class. However, he insisted on writing 85 on the grade report because he doesn't curve until the end of the semester. I have all A's through high school and college. Will this 85 hurt me or are the colleges just trying to make sure that the applicants aren't failing any of their classes? Thanks for any input!

If he grades on a curve then no, it will not hurt you. Also an 85% is not bad. I would take that in chemistry.

The colleges are just trying to make sure that you're maintaining the effort that you demonstrated in the transcript.

Don't be worried the midterm report won't hurt you if you are getting A's and the 85 will be curved.
