First quarter I got a 91 in AP Economics. Second quarter I got a 73. My college counselor says this is gonna be really bad for most of my schools. And it’s not like I wasn’t working at all in the class. This quarter, the teacher decided to grade all of the homeworks of 15-30 points. He didn’t tell us he would do this, and handed them all back at the same time. If you didn’t know how to do it, you got a 3/20, 5/25, etc… Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t homework meant to help you understand the material through PRACTICE. Homeworks are about 30% of our grade, and as such, really hurt this quarter. On the last test, I thought I did well, but ended up with a 68. Didn’t get to finish the part 2 or check over the MC (40 AP multiple choice and an AP problem for part 2 in 40 minutes). He also makes us stop working right at the bell. I know this is fair, normally, but everyone in the class was still working and didn’t finish the part 2. My grade for the quarter was originally a 70, but then he bumped everyones grade up 2 or 3 points, since most people didn’t do so good.
Sorry for ranting, but I’m really worried about this. I don’t know what to do. I already asked him about making up the home-works but he said there are none this quarter. Is there any other suggestion I should make to him? Should I write a note to the colleges explaining the 18 point decrease? Our grades are gonna be sent by the end of this week, so I need to come up with something quick or forget about all my reaches.
Thanks for your time.
