Okay, so a few days ago, my midyear report came out from my school, and one of my teachers gave me an average that I thought was too low. We discussed the grade today, and she realized she made a mistake, and filled out a sheet to get my grade change. Okay fine - everybody makes mistakes. But the problem is, my midyear report was already sent to colleges. And this was a significant difference (she gave me an 87 when I deserved a 98). What will happen if my school sends a second midyear report to colleges? Will they think this is suspicious? I’m really worried now. Please help. Thanks.
Colleges will not think it’s suspicious to get an updated school report due to an error. Relax.
Relax. Just have the corrected report sent out. If you want to feel better, you can drop a note to the ad com mentioning the error on your mid-term report and that a corrected version of the transcript will be sent shortly by the school. The adcoms are unlikely to think you are lying since it’s too easy to check. This would be a good time to mention any other accomplishments or achievements, by the way, so it doesn’t look like you are just hyper-ventilating over one grade.
This happened to our D (except the grade that went out on the transcript was a C instead of an A - you can imagine how she felt!) She notified schools of the error and had no problem.
They will think that everyone makes mistakes. This is not something over which you should lose sleep.
@“Erin’s Dad” @“N’s Mom” @skieurope; okay thank you all so much. I’m sure you can imagine the stress this caused me, but your reassurance was really helpful. I can now breathe :D.
