Might get a C in Intermediate algebra! Shold I give up on STEM?

Did you make that video?

No. Watch more of his videos. He has good ones.

Why are you keep commenting new videos?

Because these videos show that you don’t have to be naturally good at math to do something.

Instead, you should practice intermediate algebra problems and see what area you were having trouble with.

It’s the story problems I struggle with because there is not just one way to do the ones In Intermediate algebra and above math classes. They are also the hardest ones to find online lectures and/or instructions because the method may not be the same to the method nended for the problem. Quadratic formula story problems aren’t bad but the ones that have multiple fractions for are hard for me.

I like story problems though because they describe practical things.

Just do problems.

I know a guy who failed Intermediate algebra once before jumping into the calculus series due to financial hardship and had to work extra hours which made him miss class and not study enough but he retook the class over one summer and got an A or a B. He also got a C in Triginometry before calculus because of health issues. He is now at a university in his senior year working on his computer science degree so STEM is definitely still possible but you need to apply yourself and work hard. Try to find ways to minimize test anxiety, use khan academy, spend atleast an hour everyday working on math problems and make sure you are working on the problems you are weak on, and go to tutoring when needed.

I’m doing well in Intermediate algebra this semester.

Nice! Keep it up

Congratulations @SuperGeo5999! I’m happy that you’ve shown progress in wanting to achieve your goal. Don’t ever give up!

Yeah I’m taking both College Algerba and Triginometry in the spring. Depending on how that goes will tell me if I got the capabilities to do Engineering or Meteorology. If that doesn’t go well then my back up plan Is to do Wildlife, construction management, or Biology. While The majors in my backup plan require Calculus and Maybe statistics, I don’t necessarily have to be a math whiz like I do for Engineering or Meteorology.

If I can’t handle taking two or more than courses in the same semester then I can’t handle Meteorology or Engineering because I would be taking two or more math courses each semester In those majors.

What I mean by one or more math classes in the same semester are courses that have math in them as well such as chemistry, physics, and engineering.

It’s a little bit scary to say that it’s ok to be bad at math in any field that even just uses a little bit of math because while most nurses are not math whizs they have to be accurate in there dosage calculations because an error in that can cause problems for patients. Being accurate in mathematics is always important. Also, being accurate in animal measurements ecological population counts is important.

Did you pass this semester?

I still have one week left. How did you do? Were you able to get your organic Chem and physics grades up? Did you continue to do well in Calculus 2?

Taking Calculus 2 final on Wednesday and Organic next Tuesday 19th.

Good Luck! @NASA2014
