Milton Academy Wait List

My DS was wait listed by Milton, having applied as a day student. I was told a while ago that the day student portion of Milton's class of 2017 was fully enrolled with initial offers and that they did not take any students from the wait list. Has anyone heard otherwise? I was also told that Milton would be sending a letter to the day students who were placed on the wait list, telling them that the class was fully enrolled, and asking them if they wished to remain on the wait list. We haven't received such a letter. Does anyone else know of any day student who was placed on the wait list, and do you window whether the communication has been sent as yet?

From my school alone, 10 kids alone in the 8th grade are going and they are all day students. I know some friends on the wait list and as far as I know, they don’t know much more than you.

I don’t know for sure, but I’m guessing MA had a very high yield this year. At least four kids were accepted from my school, and we are all going. Everyone I talked to at the revisit day said that they are going, too. I wish you good luck! It seems strange that they haven’t at least contacted you.

Thanks to both of you. I agree. I think Milton had a very high yield, but as DS would like to remain on the wait list, I am hoping that someone else on the wait list has more info than we do!

I would not hesitate to call the school for more information…

Thanks, London 203. I did call a while ago, but I don’t want to become a pest.

What is it that you’re hoping to find out? At this point, the class is obviously fully enrolled. They could still have someone drop out between now and September, and decide to take someone off the wait list to fill that place, but barring that, they’re not going to be taking people off the wait list at this juncture.

I am sure you don’t! LOL But I suggested you call because you indicated you did not receive the expected letter regarding the opportunity to stay on the waitlist. Since you seem to want to stay on the list, a phone call would be a way to let them know 1) you never received your letter and 2) that you do indeed want to stay on the list.

If you communicated that in your previous call to them, then I think you are all set, and it is just a matter of waiting to hear in the event a space opens up… Good Luck!

Thanks london203.

Soxmom, sorry if my post was confusing. i was just wondering if any of the other kids on the wait list had received the communication that was mentioned to me some time ago, and I am also curious about whether there has been any movement at all on the wait list. I know it is unlikely, but it doesn’t hurt to ask others on this forum.

My son is on the waitlist there too and I don’t think we ever got any further communication from them. I just wasn’t paying a lot of attention to it as he’s decided to go elsewhere in the meantime. That said, if I were you, I’d call the admissions office again. You might get some useful information, and if they do need to go to the waitlist, it’s not like they’re going to decide against your son just because you call the office a couple of times. Good luck!

I’d find out what date the tuition is due and call a day or two after that.

Thanks, soxmom and momofseventhgrader. I like both of your suggestions. I suspect nothing has moved, but I’ll reiterate that DS would like to remain on the wait list, and contacting them again after payment is due is a great idea. I have a feeling milton may be over enrolled, so I don’t think they’ll need to go to the wait list even if a few kids drop off, but I’ll continue to hope. Thanks, again.

I got off the wait list at Milton, but I’m going to be a boarding student.
