<p>Whatever walmart sells. They all come from the same factory in China regardless of the “brand”. If possible get a fridge with a compressor though. Ones that say “compressor free” or don’t weigh much (lacking a heavy compressor) don’t do a very good job.</p>

<p>arent compressors really loud? My mini fridge (my roommates, so i dont know the model) was completely silent, so i assume thats compressor-less? It worked excellently, sometimes even ran too cold.</p>
<p>^^ Oh no they aren’t loud at all. My dorm had a compressor mini fridge from the 60s (yeah they’re cheapskates) and the only time it was loud was when it clicked on. Non-compressor fridges have no moving parts except a fan so there’s no click.</p>
<p>Modern compressor fridges have come a long way in sound proofing to be very close to silent.</p>
<p>What size mini fridge is good? The max at my son’s school is 4.4 cubic feet, so we bought one that size, but now looking at it, and the amount of space it will take up in the car, I’m wondering if we could go smaller.</p>
<p>I bought one that is 3.1 cubic ft, which is big enough and takes up plenty of space in the car to transport it.</p>
<p>Don’t buy ones that are a cube on the outside (LxWxH all about the same). Buy the biggest one allowed. Trust me, even at my apartment now with a fridge that is 80% the size of a normal one, I’m running out of space. I can’t go to the store every week due to lack of car, so I stock up and need all the freezer space I can get.</p>
<p>As a story, I had to break the rules at my dorm and bring my own fridge. For some strange reason they only want you to use their cube ones from the 60s that probably draws more power than a modern full size. The one I brought was maybe a few inches taller than a desk (not sure cu ft), and I’d consider that the minimum needed.</p>
<p>If you want to actually be able to use the freezer section, I would recommend getting one with two separate doors. They work the best – might cost a little more than $90 though.</p>
