do you guys think that a URM Student with a 25 ACT- great everything else (first generation college, top 5 percent, tons of leadership, even more community service, great recommendations, and great essays)- still has a chance?

I think that the ACT score will definitely hurt you.

It seems that there is this argument out there that correlates URMs with Low Standardized test scores. The fact that the first thing you said is your URM status followed by your sub-par ACT score, makes me believe that you believe this argument (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think you have a great chance, test scores aside. You have to prove to them that your academically ready (i.e. transcript). Because they weight the transcript more than they do the standardized test scores.

What's a 25 ACT correspond to in SAT?

25 ACT is an 1140 on the old SAT which is a 1710 on the new SAT

Yeah, for the most part of what I've seen, I do 'somewhat' believe that argument. I go to a mostly black school- within the a mostly black school district, and I have one of the top ten scores in my school district of 60,000+. Sure for the most part you can blame education standards here, but it may somewhat correlate in this relatively small sample.

btw my transcript isn't that great, 3.8 weighted, 3.756uw. A few C's 10th grade, when I started taking higher level classes and started sports.
