Minnesota Reciprocity with Manitoba

I knew that Minnesota had reciprocity with the Dakotas and Wisconsin, but until this morning I didn't know it also applied to Universities in Manitoba. Minnesota students are charged the Canadian student rate for University of Manitoba and a couple others.

I just looked at the fees for University of Manitoba. It blew my mind. Total COA is $13,093 Canadian dollars, or roughly $12,333 for US dollars! Plus you can finish a BA in 3 years.

University of Manitoba - Tuition Statistics

Thanks for posting this information. I don’t live in Minnesota, but I think this kind of thing is pretty cool.

LOL. I do live in Minnesota, but I’m sure the last thing my D wants is to go further NORTH for college.

It is a good deal financially, but my understanding is that Minnesota’s tuition reciprocity with Manitoba is rarely used in either direction. Manitoba kids generally find it cheaper to stay in Canada, paying a lower resident rate at the University of Manitoba than the in-state rate they’d pay at the University of Minnesota. And few Minnesota kids are interested in going to school north of the border when there are very good public universities in-state, and a really high-quality option nearby in the University of Wisconsin-Madison where Minnesotans also pay in-state tuition under the Minnesota-Wisconsin tuition reciprocity agreement. But if it works for you, go for it!
