My son is a Mn resident attending a Wi college. They have added $500 and some dollars for reciprocity. My son says he filled it out. But he doesn’t think he got an email back, saying it was approved. He contacted FAO and are waiting to hear back. Is to common for them to add it to his account before the deadline to send it in? Also is it added on as an extra fee and not under tuition? Under his account that is the only thing he owes (so far) besides parking permit fee.
Your son says he filled what out?
Some majors might have tuition surcharges. That’s the only thing that comes to mind.
he filled out the application form for reciprocity. But the fee states undergrad MN reciprocity tuition $565.24
In the WI/ MN reciprocity deal, the residents of the state with higher in state tuition are charged that higher rate for the other state’s tuition. Not sure about what form and how one pays it.
The form is the application for reciprocity. They don’t just grant you it, you have to apply for the reciprocity deal by a certain date.
Right, thats what he did. But we dont remember getting an approval letter for it. But are you saying that he could be charged a higher rate? not a lower one? I assumed he was paying what WI residents would pay. So a credit not a higher tuition. The only other thing we are thinking is, it is the remainder of what loans/grants didnt cover.
ok maybe you guys can help me out(until he talks to FAO) payments of loans and grants totals $6835. Mn reciprocity tuition charges $2643.84 and 293.76. new student fee $121.50, parking permit $222. Then -$5904.00 non resident tuition. They say he owes $787.24
Minnesota residents should be paying $317.77 per credit per semester. He has 12 credits.
ok just tuition is $244.80 x 12. equals the 2937.60. But when do they other fees(317.77-244.80)get charged? There is a textbook fee, laptop lease fee, segregated fees. The housing and dining plan charges?
ok looks like i am missing a page of charges, will get that from my son tomorrow.
Room and board should be charged at the beginning of the semester. Some of the segregated fees will be the same. Textbooks should be a general forecast which can be managed by purchasing used on the internet (still needed early in the semester). Does he have to lease a laptop? Does he have one now?
Which UW school is this?
