<p>so I was just looking at my college essays for GU and found some disturbing minor mistakes such as typing "and" as "are" and such. some sentences now sound so awkward to me. I don't know, how much are those little careless mistakes going to affect my application, if at all?</p>

<p>It is a shame that there are some typos, because this is supposed to be the chance of your lifetime to get into GU. Having said that, put it all behind you and think positive. The admissions committee deals with 18-21 year olds all the time and must realize the pressure we're experiencing. I can't believe that some typos would make or break the deal. Good luck!!!</p>
<p>I don't know if you've seen the "Clam Fart" thread, but, if you haven't, you should. Your typos cannot be worse than his, and he was accepted into Yale.</p>

<p>Looking back now... neither I nor any of my proofreaders noticed that I wrote "the important of" rather than "the importance of" XP</p>
<p>It's no clam fart, but it is a little disconcerting.</p>
<p>oh well, i guess theres nothing we can do about those disturbing mistakes now.
