What grade levels can apply to MITES, incoming juniors or seniors?

Thanks!

Bump please...

Bump again...

Anyone...?

Any help would be great...

i think high school juniors

So would that be juniors that during the summer are rising seniors?

yes i believe so, someone correct me if i'm wrong

To answer your question, the program is for rising seniors. If you are a rising junior and you want to apply, I don't see any reason not to wait a year. If you are a rising senior, there you go. But instead of posting this question on CC and then bumping 5 times in 12 hours, why can't you just read the MIT MITES webpage for a paltry 2 or 3 minutes to easily verify the answers you are looking for? That's what I did. Hint: it's the first hit that comes up when you search "MIT MITES" on Google! Miracle of miracles!

Yeesh, some people! ;)

I did go to the website, but I felt it did not make clear who is allowed to apply. So, I went to CC. Trust me, topasz, I too have discovered the miracle of Google! I'm not going to apply this year because I already have plans for the summer.

anyone know when we are notified if we got accepted or not?

I received an acceptance last week, Tuesday, I think.

Was the admissions process hard or competitive, college08?

According to the letter I recieved, it takes about 50 from 600 applicants. It's a free program, and it's MIT, so I'm fairly certain you can call it challenging. The actual application wasn't very grueling compared to my TASP application - the essays are short and fairly concise. Just make sure you get a passion for making a difference across, and show them your different dimensions as a person. I wrote about drama, Environmental Action Club, and a few other things that weren't focused on strict mathematics and science, and I was accepted, so don't sound too dry - they want humans!

Who else here is going to M.I.T.E.S? I'm excited to see who I might potentially be spending my summer with!

I'll be attending MITES this summer too.

Awesome - excited? I still find the whole concept of MIT rather intimidating, though in a thrilling kind of way. The curriculum looks fun - four hours of homework per night? Yesssss. cough

I'm excited, I just hope we get enough free time everyday to go out, it is summer. Thats the only hesitation I have with going, I don't want to be doing just homework the entire summer.

I doubt they'll make it too bad... maybe... people often like to exaggerate things like how much homework is assigned, and the packet thingy said that we go visit a few places, like the beach, which is summer-y.

What nationality are you? I'm puerto rican :)

I'm Puerto Rican too. It probably is an exageration, we'll see though lol.

Awesome - Puerto Ricans unite! I'll see you there, then. We can take the heat :) Bring it on, MIT.
