Accepted into School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, can you minor in art or music? Is it too late to apply for the minor?
Does anyone know how this works?

@Kapzow Congratulations! UVM allows students a variety of minors- you can check out the full list here: https://www.uvm.edu/academics/majors_minors_and_graduate_programs
Also, you can’t declare a minor until you start at the school. Once you start you can easily declare it via your “myUVM portal” right online.
That’s great to know!.. Do you happen to know, can it be declared a semester in, or toward the end of freshman year? (concerned about workload in the major)
@Kapzow could you tell me your stats? My D applied and was deferred for the same program. Very disappointed. Just curious where the bar is set now. Thanks!
@Kapzow - You can actually declare your minor at any point as soon as you start school. If you are certain you want art, then it is good to declare in your first semester but it would definitely be manageable even if you declared it as your minor in your 2nd year at UVM. You can also chat with your advisor in your first semester and have them help you figure out what would work best for you. I hope you aren’t too stressed- UVM is awesome and will help you work it all out and graduate in 4 years.
You can, however I would be aware there has been cuts in those programs, I believe music is more impacted than art. For a minor it would not be an issue. Minors are very easy to declare once in but you’ll have to formally declare the major first. Even though students are enrolled in the major from the start, there is still a formal process that has to happen (click a few buttons lol).
