Minors

Hii everyone,

I tried looking through old posts but I couldn't really find anything that answered my question.

So if I'm interested in a certain minor at (insert here) UC, can I just start taking the classes for the minor once I get there? Or would I need to start taking classes at a CC before I transfer? I know we get elective units so I was wondering if I'd be able to overlap that with units for a minor.

Thaaaanks if you can answer my question! :)

hey, you can take the prerequisites of the minor in your cc if you want. Just look up the major requirements and finish as much as possible.

You can start your minor anytime you want. The only courses you have to finish are those required by your major.

Overlapping units depend on colleges.

@iZychr: But I don’t HAVE to, right? I can’t find the prerequisites for my minor anyway. (And I think whatever classes I could have taken were cut because of the budget cuts…)

eternalquestion: Awesome, thanks!

Right, you don’t have to. Once you transfer, you can come and see what you like and pick minors. It’s really up to you if you wanna take some classes and only do it if you’re a 100% sure. I took some classes for a minor and once I transferred, I realized that I wanted to minor in something else.
