the tax return deadline was on march 2nd, but i just submitted this thing on today on march 3rd. they accepted it, but will i not be considered for financial aid?

Yes, you will be considered for financial aid. Many applicants are not able to submit tax returns on March 2nd, because the IRS deadline is April 15th and it often comes as a surprise that USC (and many other colleges) would like to have them sooner. The negative effect is that your package may be presented later than those submitted by March 2nd.

Additional note on the above: I didn’t notice that you said you were able to get your tax info in already. Submitting March 3rd will likely not delay your package at all - in fact submitting all this week should be fine. It is the tax information submitted after the 15th of March or so that will delay packages. In my observations, the packages appear the first week of April, or about two weeks after they get all of the documentation (tax returns, W-2s, any other requested info), whichever is later.
