Missed Deadline CSS Application

When I was looking through all the Duke online services I saw they had ALL my application materials. Then I looked over at the Financial Aid section (which I need) and they had a task that was needed by November 1st for Early Decision applicants, which was CSS Profile Application- you needed to complete that. I completely missed this when I was going through my application online.

I tried to register for a CSS Application but the page doesn't let me register for anything. Any reasons why or why not? Will this affect my ED chances or will I not get financial aid? Please answer ASAP. I'm sort-of freaking out. I always thought that everything financial aid wise was to be done after you got accepted or towards the March-April deadlines. Please help!

Nevermind, I found out how to register and am completing as I am speaking right now.

However, the other questions are applicable. Will this affect my chances at ED or financial aid? I mean the admissions office let everyone know by e-mail last week that if you miss a deadline they’ll let you know if you’re missing anything. And my friend just told me that all of this is just for an estimate anyway, they don’t really care bout the actual financial aid until you’re into the school and stuff.

Every year kids ( and parents) miss the deadlines. Ever year threads get posted telling people to watch the deadlines. You’re doing the best thing by getting it done right now and getting it submitted. You can send your admission rep an e-mail and tell them you hit “submit” on the estimated CSS this weekend which will probably make you feel alittle better.

Yes - our D’s H.S. guidance counselors have emphasized not to rely on hearing from a school that you are missing something. Go to your account on their site and verify! That said, it’s probably a good idea to call the financial aid officer to let them know your situation - and double-check on all of their requirements for paperwork, etc. They may ask you to send the documentation directly, etc.
Our D’s ED school confirmed that they will not get around to making a final determination until they do all the regular decision applicants, so there’s no rush to get anything else (besides the CSS and a copy of a recent pay stub by Nov. 15) in early. But each school is different, so best to check.
Also look into the requirements for all the schools you will apply to if ED is deferred. Some of those dates could be as early as Dec. 15, in order to get the best shot, or the application fee waived, or whatever.
