So my parents signed me up for an on campus interview, but we both completely forgot about it as it was during a busy time in both of our schedules. How screwed am I? Before I didn’t miss the interview, I was a fairly competitive applicant, but now I’m afraid that they won’t even look at my application. In fact, we realized that I missed the interview a month after it was scheduled so I’m not sure if there’s anything to do to repair the damage already done…
Uh-oh. It’s been a month since you realized it? You need to write an email and explain and apologize. In these days of smart phones and online calendars with alerts, there is really no excuse for forgetting IMHO. If you don’t have a smart phone, then there are still wall calendars, daily planners, etc in which this should have been recorded.
What kind of interview was this? With an admissions officer? Alumnus?
… if it was a professor interview u may be screwed…
Actually two months since, but I talked to the admissions counselors at my school and my parents who both said that there wasn’t much I could do. It was just an interview with an admissions counselor I believe, and yeah I know I shouldn’t have missed it, but it was something that my parents, on recommendation from my counselor, did for me for some stupid reason.
@bigwalk honestly if it was a professor i think it would be worse than an admissions counselor(tho they are the ones reviewing applications…)
Hopefully its just a slight hiccup in your application
@thegrant yeah I hope so, but is is even worth it to send an apology email this late?
@bigwalk nah i would say just chillax
I sort of disagree. I would still get in touch with them and apologize If you are in close proximity, then why don’t you write and ask to set up another interview? At least that is what I would have my own kids do. I make them phone anytime they are running late etc. It’s called being proactive.
