Missing Financial Aid Documents?

I’m an upcoming student at a uni in the fall and I keep getting an email from telling me I’m missing documents for my Financial Aid.

The following information is requested at this time:

The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at approved schools in New York State. You may be eligible for tuition assistance. To determine your eligibility you must complete the application online at https://www.tap.hesc.ny.gov/totw.

So apparently I’m missing my TAP application but I checked my status on my TAP Information and it’s been processed as of about a month ago. I sent an email and called the financial aid counselor but the wait time is ‘undetermined’.

I checked my CUNYFirst student center and my Award Package includes the TAP Waivers and the standard grants which have all been accepted. The email says my financial aid file will remain incomplete unless I complete my TAP…

Need some help on this since I’m really confused on whether I will actually get aid for the '16-'17 school year.

@sybbie719 can probably offer a helpful suggestion. I’d go to the office in person, if you can, to see what’s missing.

Have you assigned your tap to the school that you are attending? If you have not done so, do it now so that your school can get it. Remember, TAP will only list the first NYS school on your FAFSA. YOu must assign your school to your TAP now that you have made a final decision. If you update, it will take approximately 4 days until you see it in your status

If you did assign your school, and it is part of your award (when you check your status on HESC), print it out take it to your financial aid office and speak with a live person (not a student worker).
