Missing first month of school

Well, I see it this way: it’s not easy to get a full-time (that’s what FT stands for) opportunity at JPL. I’m assuming you mean Jet Propulsion Labs and plan to study STEM in college. I assume also that you are good enough to merit this opp and currently have solid grades and scores. No one here is saying screw around with school. See if your school will back you up for this opportunity. Most kids either do an internship in summer or fit it around school hours. Most schools don’t like it when kids miss a great number of classes. But, some schools will make a deal with you, so you graduate on time. Yes, as suggested, you may need to make it up with online learning or cc classes. You may have to drop Japan and take summer school. In fact, if you were my kid, I’d expect you to have a plan. And, Japan can be moved to another year.

I do read apps and would be impressed by the JPL, if you’re talking about a golden opp. But not if your grades drop. Talk to a teacher who might back you up. Make a plan. We don’t know much here, including why the opp has to conflict with school and why you are prioritizing Japan along with it.

Thank you for your objective posts. I’ve gotten a lot of information from you guys, and I’ll find an alternative. Also, I apogize; I did not intend to imply that school is unimportant.
