Missing Recommendation

One of my recommendations is missing. So does that mean my application was void?
Be honest, I can take it. :/

Is it too late to send it?

i don’t think it’s too late. the same thing happened to one of my friends a week ago. she just had her teachers resend the recs. contact your teacher and ask him/her fax the recommedation or send it through the internet to make sure it gets there asap. maybe let your college conselor know too so he/she can help you sort it out.

But a week’s difference this late into the admissions process seems like ages!!!
Sorry but I’m freaking out! :frowning:
So what exactly happened to your friend? Did he speak to anyone?

For her it was Columbia. She got an email from the admissions office and forwarded it to her college counselor. She and her counselor emailed the two teachers who wrote her recommendations, but only one responded right away. She was kind of freaking out because it was the weekend and she couldn’t find the second teacher, but he eventually gave her the rec and her counselor faxed it in to Columbia. If they sent you an email asking for the recommendation then it’s probably not too late. They wouldn’t bother otherwise.

I didn’t get an email

You should send it in via mail ASAP, or fax it preferably, if you can. It doesn’t matter whether or not they sent you an email - if you know it’s missing, try and FIX IT. Harvard gets so many applicants that they might not have time to individually contact each one, but may just throw your app away. So get it in!!

Fax it in, followed by a hard copy by overnight mail if you can afford it. Interviews are still taking place, so it is NOT too late. Also, call the ad com and alert them.

If your adcom notified you get it in ASAP as it means that your file is going to the table shortly…

@omgseriously: It is not too late to get your letter in. I know so because interviews are still taking place. Also, if your file is incomplete, Harvard will not necessarily inform you, so don’t wait for notice from them before acting to submit a requirement you know is missing. I know of an applicant who has not taken her three required SAT subject tests, and she has received no notice from Harvard that her file is incomplete.

It is definitely not too late. I sent my Dartmouth recommendation in about 10 days ago and just received a likely letter (so they clearly so not discriminate heavily against those with missing materials at top schools).

Wow thank you guys so much for the replies!!

One of my friends just sent Yale some recs because they lost them. Yale and Harvard release at the exact same time, so you’ll likely be fine sending them.
