Hi guys. So I'm a future transfer student from a California community college and I'd really like to transfer to SDSU and major in Sustainability. The only problem is that the Assist agreement states that I need to have all preparation courses completed for the major and one of the courses isn't available at my community college. In fact, it isn't available in any community colleges anywhere near me. Does this basically mean that I can't do it? I'm so bummed right now. Is it possible for me to transfer there and complete that course once I arrive? Has anyone else had a similar situation? Thanks a ton.

Here is the articulation agreement between SDSU and my college: ASSIST Report: CANYONS 13-14 SDSU Articulation Agreement by Major

I was in the same boat as you last semester. First, it’s best to take your classes at a CCC in SD because you’ll have a better chance of getting into SDSU. So if I were you I’d take that last class online at Grossmont, SD City College, Southwestern or Cuyamaca. I tried to transfer from AVC and didn’t get in because I wasn’t in the SD district. My major would have been philosophy, I figured it could get into that one becuase it wasn’t an impacted major, WRONG. Also make sure you’re GPA is higher than 3.0, that might help you a little too.

@cvstriker Hey I am a sust major too. I also had one class the env 100 or sust 100 class that does not have eqv. course at my cc (SDMESA). If you look into cross enrollment on the sdsu website you can take that final class on campus there while attending a local sdcc and then you will have a way better chance ! hope that helped. That is what I am currently doing!

I am from Valencia and came down to SDSU to get info about transferring. At the time I had 32 units from COC. They told me that in order to get accepted at SDSU, I had to have 50% of my units from a SD college. That would put me in the second tier for transferring and they usually only accept 1st and 2nd tiers. I moved to SD and completed 32 units here. Hopefully you get in but as someone who was literally in the exact boat as you, you may not get into sdsu because of where you live.
