Missing Requirements...But Not Really

So my admissions checklist is stating that I am missing my mid-year report and one of my teacher recommendations but according to the common app, Swarthmore downloaded it a long time ago, and every other college I have applied to successfully received these documents via the Common App.

My gut feeling was that this checklist is flawed or has glitches, so I called to confirm, but it seemed like the person I talked to was looking at the same checklist and just regurgitated what it referenced that I was missing. I am worried because it says that 2/9 was the last time I could ensure that my application was complete, but it isn't my fault (or so I don't think). Right now I am scrambling to get the information resent to Swarthmore and hopefully it won't effect my admissions.

I was wondering if anyone else was encountering this problem?

I wonder if I should call again to ask them to download the information that is so readily available via the common app, so I can clear everything up and sleep easier at night!?

I have a slightly different concern. My school did not send my Midterm report till this Monday (Feb. 13). I checked it was uploaded to the Common App web site on Feb. 13 and the Common App web site indicates that it was downloaded by Swarthmore yesterday. However, the app status check list at Swarthmore still indicates “missing midterm transcripts”. I assume there may be some lag between download and updating the status page, may be due to human labor involved in the loop. I hope so!

Daughter’s mid-year report was submitted to the Common Application on February 10, she just checked and Swarthmore now lists it as received. So maybe you just need to wait another couple of days.

Ready - almost the same boat here but with councelor rec and school profile which has been part of the common app since last year when she first applied ED to Rice. Here is what I posted on a different thread yesterday - no one has addressed it though:

This worries me. D got her checklist email 2/3 and the website showed she lacked her school’s profile and councelor rec (which no other college lacked). D requested the school send again, but as of today, Swat website showed “missing”. I intervened and called the school myself TODAY and asked them to email a scanned .pdf to Swat’s listed email to cure missing issues and only then did I notice the deadline date of 2/9 for those items.

Ouch - does anyone have a clue how hard a fast this is? I am really baffled that they are the only school who didn’t receive these with the common app…ugh.

Maybe it’s just slow to update.

My mid-year reports were sent last week, and I know they were sent because other schools say that they have gotten them. Swarthmore hasn’t updated yet for me.

I asked my kid, a tour guide at Swat, to check on this. Someone in the office told him that while most of the stuff was in and updated online, there were still some pieces coming in “in dribs and drabs.”

does the item “Secondary School Report” equal School Profile? D’s still showing to be missing that item and if it is not the School Profile (which she had them send), I don’t know what it would be.

No, the Secondary School Report is one of the Common App forms. It’s filled out by the school guidance/college counselor. It includes the official transcript.

thanks momof3sons - as it turns out, the school had been sent these items back in the end of January - school will resend again!
