Hello all,
I’m a sophmore in high school and this summer will start doing college visits. I live in St. Louis and I plan on majoring in Journalism, Broadcasting specifically. I also LOVE to sing, its my life, so if anyone knows about great singing opportunities on and off these campuses I’d love to know.
I’ve heard that Mizzou is top notch, but I’ve also heard that they’ve had serious racial issues. This is a big concern for me as I am a young black teen. I’ve also heard about the party scene. How bad is it? Also, I have trouble understanding the process to get into their Journalism school. Is it possible to get into their program freshman year?
Missouri State University- So far MSU is my top in state university. I’m impressed at first glance with the dorms, area, and buildings. I have a couple friends that who attend that speak very highly of MSU. Does anyone know how good their Journalism program is? Is there any helpful information about MSU anyone might have? How is the socia scene and reslife there? They have SO many dorms, which are pretty good or personal favorites?
UMSL- This is in my hometown but I haven’t heard much about their Journalism program. Has anyone heard about it? How are their dorms as well? Are they pretty nice?
Truman State- I’ll admit I don’t know much about Truman. Its a small town which is a turn off for me, honestly, since I’m a social butterfly. But, it is a liberal university, so does anyone know about their Journalism program? What about their dorms, reslife, and things to do on and off campus?
I’ve also looked at SEMO if anyone has helpful information about their Journalism program and reslife.
I know I have a lot of questions but would really appreciate anything you all have to say about any of these colleges. The ones I’m looking at seriously are Mizzou, Missouri State, and SEMO.
