Please let me know if I'm over exaggerating or if I have a genuine reason to contact admissions. I was reading one of my essays after I sent in the application and I realized that I put "actual" instead of "actually." Should I call and fix this mistake? Will my application be thrown out?

You’ll be okay, and I don’t think they would even fix it if you called. You’re application will obviously not be thrown out. Calm Down :)

Tiy didn’t misspell and that’s probably why spell-check didn’t detect the error. The difference between actual and actually is grammatical: adjective vs adverb. The good news is that it’s a relatively minor error, so rest easy.

To avoid this very common problem, be sure to read your essay aloud. You’re much more likely to spot a missed word or a misspelling if you read it out loud, not silently to yourself.

Generally admissions officers view grammatical/ spelling errors negatively, but I don’t think one mistake will spoil the essay.
