Mistake on resume: apologize/correct?

<p>I made a mistake on my resume. I wrote that I am a National Scholar for something when I was in fact a National Scholar nominee. It was a legitimate mistake - because I had thought I was presented a National Scholar Award. At the bottom it said "Nominee".. and im liek OMG ***.</p>

<p>Anyway, I've sent this resume to 2 colleges. Should I write a letter to them apologizing/correcting the mistake?</p>

<p>yes. explain to them the mistake. better to let them know an honest mistake then having them figure it out on their own.</p>
