My counselor told me that my IGETC was done. I just recently looked at my transcripts and realized I was missing the physical science requirement which means that I won't have the IGETC completed by this spring even though I marked that it would be. What do I do to fix it?

You can either A) call each campus you applied to and explain the situation to them.
B) Study Whichever physical science class interests you the most in depth and request a Credit by Examination at your CCC for the class, get the credit for the class and get IGETC certified at the end of Spring.
Or
C) Do nothing and hope they don’t find out.

I wouldn’t recommend C but it’s always an option

How did you barely notice that physical science was missing? Anyways, I would try to sign up/add for any class ASAP.

Unfortunately I listened to an awful counselor rather than reviewing my requirements myself. It’s a mistake that won’t happen again.
Thanks for the advice.

There are several things that you can try: add a course (which I highly recommend you try ASAP), if they offered get a late start course that fulfills that requirement, if possible try to take a course at a neighboring CC, or take a course over the summer (if accepted by the UC you want to get into, I know it can be a little touch and go with summer courses).

I see now that the question asked if I would be completing IGETC before transfer, and not specifically Spring semester. I’ll be taking it over the summer. Thanks guys.

Seeing as how the UCs want all their other requirements to be done by the end of spring before you transfer, I wouldn’t automatically make that assumption unless the UC specifically says so. You might be right about them not being specific about the spring, but just be aware of the potential headache that you might get yourself into if you end up being wrong.

^ It really depends on the UC. @Bunessa, which campuses did you apply to? Cal won’t accept summer work to fulfill IGETC.

I apparently still have the option to change it to “no”. I’ll take the warning as a sign to do so.
I didn’t apply to Berkeley. San Diego, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, and Davis.
Worse case scenario I get rejected and my appeal letters are ignored. Stay for another year in community college, and then apply to top tier UCs like I probably should. Not the worst thing to happen in the world.

Most of the UC campuses don’t require IGETC finished by the end of the spring. IGETC isn’t a required at UCSB for transfers. The only school I think that does that you applied to is UCSD for their TAG. You can finish the IGETC in the summer or get a partial certification. You can double check with the schools you applied to and see if it is going to be an issue. Most likely it won’t :)

Thanks so much for that! UCSB is actually my first choice so that’s a big relief although I do intend to complete IGETC in the summer.
