Mistake on your college application? This is for you.

I have made 3 HUGE mistakes in my application process. Ready for them?

I forgot to put a school I previously attended.

I put male instead of female.

I put the wrong social security number

@ rachelj1222 I made a HUGE HUGE mistake. Or mistakes actually.
Somehow and for some reason I submitted the version of my essay that was not spell-checked, which resulted in my essay looking really stupid and written by some 8 year old who wants to ride on a Ferris weal. Yeah
I don’t know if I should even continue my application at this point.

I put “maintainence” instead of “maintenance.” totally counterintuitive if you ask me lol.

actually kind of is. o_O

One essay - phrase was supposed to be “wasting my life,” but I made a typo and it became “washing my life”!! And this was the last, culminating, seminal sentence!

Got a likely letter there, anyway ;)

On the why Yale? Essay, I put that I wanted to minor In playwriting
but Yale doesn’t offer minors! Somehow got a likely from there anyways.

I had a couple of grammatical errors on the cornell supplement ):

Typed out 16 but spelled twelve in my personal statement, literally freaked out when I realized
I thought my personal statement was perfection and that crushed my confidence in my self editing skills.

I misspelled Grinnell as “Grinell” on the supplement. I sort of freaked out and wrote to admissions acknowledging my error the day after I submitted; it turned out all right though, they’re responded on something on the lines of “It’s cool”
lol

Although I spent so much time editing and reediting my extracurricular statement to make sure it was perfect and it didn’t exceed the character limit, the last 5 words were still cut off!! And it was weird because it was cut off for one version of my common app, but not the other, although it was the exact same extracurricular statement. I hyperventilated
Oh well, I still got into Duke and Cornell (diversity likelies). Thank God!

Okay so under the member questions for UMASS Amherst I said my parents were US Dual Citizens not a permanent resident…should I call the college or email them???

Why would you submit your application SO EARLY??? You have like 2 more months to edit, to think, to go through you application and TO CHECK FOR ERRORS SO THERE ARE NO MISTAKES!!! unless of course, you’re applying for ED.

I somehow managed to put the wrong ss number on my common app. Oops:D Though I didn’t apply for financial aid at any of the schools. Didn’t realize it until I got a phone call from one school, after I was accepted asking why the ss number on my app was different than my transcript.

Not that big of a deal, but I totally forgot to mention that I went on a 10-day serving trip to the Dominican Republic :(

I put an extra comma in the essay I sent to my safeties. Hopefully they’ll overlook it. I managed to catch it before I sent it to my top schools

The “male instead of female” made me lol. I put I was born in houston when I was really born in Laredo :(

So on my awards part of the application and resume, I wrote that I received a AP Scholar with Distinction Award when I really only had an AP Scholar with Honor Award. I just realized this and I am so depressed.

This, plus I forgot an “in” and a “the” in one essay and one supplement. Oops.

Ugh, this is killing me! Do you think that if I get deferred, I should reach out to the school and warn them of my mistake?

I forgot to complete the current courses section on my application and left out two of my classes, which I planned to take that following Fall term

Pretty nervous now.

I think I win when I say " I accidently defered my CUNY app after I sent in transcripts and my sat scores". Calling cuny tomorrow, crying today.

I made A LOT on my Elon App.

varisty play instead of player
said “appeals to youth to” instead of “appeals to youth”
then instead of than
thrown instead of throne
activit instead of activities

I emailed my admissions counselor to ask if I can edit my app
