@MITChris I saw you first on the MIT Virtual Open House and then I stalked your blog posts and your comments and you’re my favorite ever
confirm that the email posted yesterday was real/accurate/actually from stu. we’re up about 15% in apps and no more spots. i also posted the numbers on r/A2C but you can’t crosslink to reddit from cc so I couldn’t post it here.
thanks sk1021, appreciate that.
@MITChris what is the office like? Are you guys all done or is it hectic? Is everything all decided? Are AOs ever worried about releasing? Has m_quinn stuck back?
we’re done and locked. just loading into the decisions server and testing. we’re always worried about releasing, mostly that the server doesn’t crash (hence the testing). m_quinn is a ghost.
when you gonna release the statistics?@MITChris
@MITChris, do you know about students that got accepted by early decision at other schools (e.g. Cornell), and do you adjust your accepted pool based on that? Or do you wait for the student to withdraw an application before adjusting your decision on that student?
Good luck everyone!!! Just 6 and a half hours to go
I am gonna sleep now…just wake up after 6.5 hours…LOL
are we also going to receive email for result?
@115701242017 no…
@rick78 ty
we’ll release stats at 6:28 on the blogs. we don’t know about other decisions from other schools; students have to tell us they’re withdrawing.
I haven’t been able to access the mit admissions website for the past few days. I’ve tried several devices and I get the error connection timed out after not loading. Is the website down or is my connection bad?
I have refreshed this page an unhealthy amount… I think im going to lock myself out of my laptop until 3:28 (PST)
@Lexii10399 try using a VPN, a few people were having problems in the Facebook group and that seems to have fixed it.
@astrofan Where I live, the time is 11:45 pm. I have to do that lol.
@TheRolf That worked. Thank you so much!
It feels like just yesterday that we were applying to MIT, I can’t believe its decision day already! Good luck to everyone!
@Lexi and @TheRolf - we’ve had scattered outages reported (http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/2032403-when-and-how-will-the-ea-decision-come-out.html#latest). I’ve been trying to collect them and forward to our hosting provider and also Cloudflare, which provides service to us.
If you could please screenshot the errors and email them to me (petey [at] mit dot edu) with your ISP, IP address, and anything you did that fixed it (e.g. connecting via VPN), that would be helpful. It’s really not clear why it’s happening and both tech support groups are flummoxed so the more help the better. It seems early to be blaming the FCC but that’s what I’m going to do until proven otherwise.
(oh, and no, this has no impact either way on your decision; it’s just a good service)
Hello! Good luck from the SCEA Yale thread!! I wrote a sonnet in honor of my MIT brethren:
Three more hours to go, no more than that.
MIT decisions are drawing near.
I believe I am headed to combat.
I no longer care how bad I appear.
To be accepted, I do not know how,
Is my goal, and also my greatest dream.
The time is nigh, when the clock strikes at Tau.
I feel the energy in my bloodstream.
Various outcomes can happen later
Based on my apps, and all of my four years.
Results may be bad, or also greater,
I hope my result will lead to some cheers.
So come on, MIT, let me know now!
Please let me in, I don’t care, but somehow!
Good luck!!
