Rejected! Looks like I’m going to University of Michigan. No complaints here.

Unfortunately both of my friends were rejected
hey guys idk why im here because i didnt apply lol. but seeing this go down makes me want to add my two cents… you guys are obviously INCREDIBLY bright, talented, and unique individuals and to even apply to a school of such prestige is an honor in itself. you all represent the best and brightest of this generation and regardless of where you end up, i can guarantee that you will be doing what you love (and excelling at it). if it didn’t go how you’d hoped, it is of course ok to grieve and be upset. but know that one day this will be just a faint memory! wishing you all happiness and success
@almostcollege123 All of us appreciate your sentiment. I believe this to be true for all of us when I state that this journey has taught us something far superior, and that is never to lose hope and be mature enough to handle a desperate situation. Today, I celebrated my seventeenth birthday, and despite my prediction of feeling sad about my rejection, I was frankly happy because I knew that I had gained something much more profound, much essential and that was the fundamental insight on my life. I wish all of the people on this thread, whether you were accepted, waitlisted, or rejected, a bright journey ahead of you.
Another rejected going to Michigan! Sounds more fun, anyway …
Honestly the skiing at U of Nevada-Reno is so much better than Boston it might actually be worth it
Accepted!
(Am I supposed to see a form on my.mit? Cuz my my.mit hasn’t changed so I’m confused.)
Accepted and to mirror @Navy09mom I have an AROTC scholarship and was also accepted to Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and RPI. MIT, I am 95% sure, is my first choice but I would like to hear back from the Ivies before I accept.
DS Accepted!! Thrilled!!

Waitlisted and International
Based on MIT blog (current post and the post from EA):
9557 Applied Early, Admitted 664 in Early round (Admit Rate 6.95%). Deferred 6210 applicants (2683 rejected/incomplete).
Regular Action 12149 + Deferred 6210 = 18359 (Computed from total applicant pool of 21,706 minus Early Applicants)
Admitted 800 (Admit Rate = 4.36%) - (Computed from total admits of 1464 minus Early Admits of 664).
No details on how many of the 800 came from EA Deferral and how many were first time RA applicants, though historically EA Deferrals have had admit rates of around 3.5% - somewhat lower than first time RA which in turn has been lower than EA admits.
Overall Admit Rate = 1464/21706 = 6.74%.
Bottom line, adMIT does not define an individual’s worth, in majority of the cases MIT’s assessment of an individual’s worth may be way off several other schools’ assessments. YMMV! Reminds me of a T-shirt Caltech pranked MIT with: http://ilest20hapasadena.blogspot.com/2014/04/postdocs-life-in-caltech_22.html
Does anyone know if there is merit based scholarship given by MIT? How do you apply?
