Does this feel like Election Day to anybody else?

Does this feel like Election Day to anybody else?

"Folks, seems like Florida is too close to call..."

if i weren't waiting for a letter... i'd probably find the irony in that amusing :(

I THINK I'VE FIGURED IT OUT!!! THEY'VE BEEN TRICKING US!

If... Florida and NJ have it but PA, NY, MA and VT don't, then they must have mailed the decisions from North Carolina! MIT's admissions office is located in North Carolina.

haha, wouldn't that be terribly wrong? Or even worse, MIT is located in North Carolina. NCIT?

Of course, I didn't count the couple of results that were reported for MA. Nothing wrong with throwing out the results that don't match, eh?

For those who got the acceptance "tube," how did you receive it?

Was it stuck in your mailbox, with the mailbox door open?
Was it left on the side of the mailbox or left at your doorstep?
Was a note saying "please pick something up at the post office" left in your mailbox?

o_0

Because I measured out the dimensions of the tube, and it seems like it's too long to fit in a normal-sized mailbox.

hey guys if you all are nervous, go to the mit undergrad site and read marilee jones's guest blog (its near the bottom....something like Post-Early-action thoughts). it is really full of wisdom and seriously calmed me down about this whole process

I got the tube in the mailbox. I don't even remember if the mail box was closed or not because I ran to it so fast, but it was in there.

Marilee Jones's outstanding blog entry is here; a thread about it exists on this board for further discussion here.

i just found out i have something to pick up at the post office. it's classified under "large envelope, magazine, catalog, etc"... I guess that wouldn't be the tube, huh :(

No, that would be the tube probably!!! and how did you find out? The deferral letter is in a normal small envelope........

i was panicking since the mail usually comes at 1-2pm and when i came home at 4 it wasn't in... but by 5 i went downstairs again (i live on the 10th floor in an apartment building) and there was mail!!

mostly junk from other colleges, but i also found the slip, usually reserved for stuff that my mailman can't jam into the little box.. it told me i had mail that i could pick up tomorrow at my local post office, the knickerbocker station (yes, it's real name). and i just flipped out because i never get huge pieces of mail!!! and now i must wait another day to find out what it is....

did anyone in NY get anything from MIT yet? or at least near the metro area..?

You got accepted, congrats

Congrats to the acceptees! I just got accepted to Caltech today and I can hardly control myself. I received nothing yet from MIT and I'm near Fresno, CA. Hopefully they'll come tomorrow!
