hey you guys i got accepted into MITES' which is an MIT Summer program ,and i was wondering if anyone else has gotten accepted to it or if anyone has attended it i would LOVE TO KNOW what i can expect going into the program. I'm not even actually convinced i'll go yet, it all depends on whether i get into the program at UPENN ,my dream school :), but regardless of that i would still like to know what the program is like, thanks

Which program did you apply at Penn?

I went to a Penn camp last summer...hehe

i applied to the SAAST computer graphics program....I also applied and go into the M&Tsi program I dont know if I'm going to go to M&Tsi yet, I'd rather go to SAAST

Hehe

I went to the SAAST last year for Biotechnology and my close friend went to M&Tsi. So if you any questions, feel free to PM me.

So you are between SAAST and MITES? hmmm....hard choice.

yea i would rather do SAAST because i really want to work (as a career) in the 3D Animation/ Game Design industry but I LOVE CHALLENGING OPPORTUNITIES and MITES seems like its going to be a pretty dificult 6 weeks in terms of academics so yea im pretty much "torn in between the two" like the latoya lucket song...lol

^^^im such a dork..don't mind me...:)

I went to MITES, feel free to PM me or ask any specific questions on this board. MITES was an incredible experience. It was much more challenging than my current freshman schedule, but in the end it's all about effort at MITES. You don't get grades; you just get recommendations by your professors at the end which you can send in with college applications. The bonds you build will be longlasting. My closest friends were from MITES, my roommate went to MITES with me, and my everyday encounters include people from MITES. Something can be said for students spending late night hours together doing problem sets. In a matter of 6 weeks these people become part of your family. The MITES program really caters to the student; the program is all expenses paid (except travel) and comes out to be over 7K per student. I also shouldn't say this, but MITES is a fast track to MIT acceptance. Over half of MITES 05 is at MIT (36/69?), and a lot more were accepted, but chose to go to Harvard, Stanford...

Hi I got accepted to MITES this year too. So I guess I'll see you there if u go. Good luck on the other program.

I got in too and I will definately be attending. See you guys there. Are you definately going starbucks?

but I thought SAAST is easy to get in? I am not sure..
but not MITES...

Weee.... I guess I'll see you guys there! The acceptance letter said on average 7 hours of class and approx. 5 of HW/studying is spent... and sometimes I think... blah... I want to rest in the summer!.... but then again, it's pretty near AP exams, and maybe I'm just tired of being on overdrive. It's a long way from here too...

Hopefully the work wont be that bad, I want to rest too. Did you get confirmation that your acceptance for a place in the program was received?

did anyone get the new packet that MITES sent out, it has a listing of all the participants names and emails....freaky huh...lol....anyway...i cant wait to get there and meet all you guys...it should be fun!!!!!

I got mine today too.

I applied to MITES last year but was rejected unfortunately. I went to Harvard Summer School instead. Highly recommend it.

I all... I was accepted to the MITES program and can not wait to meet everyone!!!

i can't wait to meet everyone too. I'm looking forward too it!!!! But for those that attended the program in the past i have a few questions, like what should i bring? Should i bring my laptop or are computers accessible? And what were the dorms like, ie: do they have tv's or internet?

Thanks for the responses.

Dorms have internet and cable hookups, but not computers or TVs. (Common rooms usually have TVs, though, so if you don't bring a TV you can probably still keep up with your favorite shows.)

so what are you guys bringing to MITES?!?

2 days left....is everyone ready?!?!?!?...lol

For whom are these programs available to?
do they include high school students or students just about to join in the university.
