MIT Pistol and Rifle

This is a shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this organization? I would really be interested in joining, but it seems like its more oriented towards older (21+) folks; as such, it seems like the application process is rather difficult: requires NRA membership for you or a member of your family, and requires a Mass Firearm ID or License-to-Carry (the latter of which is rather difficult to acquire in Cambridge, and requires you to be 21+). Now, I come from Chicago, where firearm ownership or even operation is strictly forbidden, so no one in my family is an NRA member. But I've always been interested in target shooting.

So does anyone else share my interest? I would love to join the team, but I doubt I would shoot that great. I probably should just send them an email.

i've never held a gun in my life, but I'm still interested in this sport. I wonder how many ppl like me there are.

Not entirely on-topic, because I don't know anything about the team (although I'm sure they'd be happy to answer emails :)), but you can take a pistol PE class. I've had a few friends take it and really enjoy it.

danielsjang:

I am in almost the exact same situation. What sort of shooting are you interested in? I hear MIT's team is extremely competitive, though.

ah really? too bad then. I don't really know anything about shooting, but i'd like to try some. I have no clue which type of shooting I'd like.
