Oh and I just had a thought, is the tennis team or the soccer team good at MIT? Maybe I could get recruited... any imput?

You don't apply to a specific school, just MIT as a whole.
It wouldn't hurt to contact coaches, but there isn't a very big recruiting effort at D3 schools.

oh okay. and is there a chance that, with no scholarship, i get recruited?

D3 schools don't give scholarships. Plus, MIT doesn't recruit like other D3 schools. Being a great athlete will help in the same way being an Eagle Scout will. Both say something positive about you. However, it's not like other schools (like ivies) where they start salivating when they see a good athlete and just want them to be above a minimum academic profile.

well anyway, back to the actually chances, chances please?

You have a reasonably competitive application for a top tier school (ivy + MIT). I would say you probably have a better chance at an ivy because I don't see much interest in math and science. Even for business majors, I would expect MIT to favor people who had demonstrated a strong scientific/ quantitative bent.

What is ASB? What were your SATII scores and what the breakdown of your SATI score? You've got a good GPA (I'm guessing 1-2 B's?), but it's more about the story your transcript (and recs) tell. Where were your B's in? Were you a academic star or just a consistently "A" student? I mean, would your recs say that you were one of the best students they've ever had?

You should absolutely apply; you obviously have good grades, an excellent SAT score and some nice EC's. I just wanted to give you some indication of how adcomms might discern among applicants with competitive academic profiles. Frankly, I think you've satisfied the academic requirements for admission to ivies seeing as you are a future businessperson and not a future academic. I would expect them to make the decision based on your EC's, essay, and personality.

BTW, I think the tennis and soccer teams are pretty good. Tennis was ranked in the top 20 in Division III when I was there. I think soccer was good because of our international students...

oh sorry, collegealum314, ASB at our school is like one step ahead of being class president. the power order at our school is like principal> advisors> ASB prez> teachers> regular presidents etc. so it's a leadership type thing

does anyone else have any chances for me? please let meh know

bummppp and is my SAT score good enough for MIT?

yes... and please do not bump until your thread is on the 2nd page.
Read through this forum more, and you will get some of your questions answered. If you really want chance replies, you'll probably get more in the "Chance me" forum, which seems completely useless to me.

okay. anyone else?

You should apply if you want to. I mean, you're grades are really good and the courses you're taking are advanced... so you probably have a good shot. You never know if you don't try...so apply. :)

thanks everyone!! any more opinions?
