I am currently in high school, and got accepted to Georgia Tech for Chemical Engineering, but I want to transfer to MIT. I also won a few national awards in my senior year, which if i had gotten my junior year probably would have guaranteed admission. Do you think that MIT would care about these national awards in my senior year of high school, or will they only care about the stuff done in my first term of college.
I don’t know what the rest of your application and the national awards are like. However, the average freshman GPA in engineering at GA Tech is probably about 2.5. If you want to transfer to MIT, it would help to have at least a 3.5. Hard to know how they make decisions though.
True but do colleges care about awards from your senior year in high school?
They will see your whole high school record, so yes those awards should count. Obviously, I would emphasize them a little in the application, but not go too far with that. They will also see your last semester senior year grades, senior AP scores and so on. It usually shouldn’t matter too much, but if you have some amazing awards, they should help some.
